Best thing to rid yourself of useless desktop icons even though this is a trick is to right click the icon go to properties and then hide therefore you have nothing on your desktop.

I can think of few things that will screw up your computer faster than regcure. If you need to clean up your registry, and everyone needs to do that occasionally, get CCleaner. It's free. It removes crap and temp files from your computer and also cleans your registry. You don't have to have a serial key. It's all in one program.

Or use Microsoft's Live OneCare Cleanup Scan. It's small, it's fast and it's secure. Oh yes, it's free. It'll clean your registry while you're sitting here thinking about it!

You are really through. I use "Registry Mechanic". I find it works well for me. This is something that I didn't know about these things that I will pass along to you. Some of the registry cleaners on the market are very aggressive. By this I mean they will remove files and connections that you don't want removed. If you are a pro which I am not it is not such a big deal but if you are an old codger and a computer dope like me or just one or the other this could be a big headache for you. I have two computers. It works fine on both of them. One uses a Microsoft XP operating system. The other one uses Vista Home Premium. Best of Luck To You Bob

A good Registry Cleaner will always scan your Windows registry for invalid or obsolete information and provide a list of the errors found. I like!
